I applied for a Design Team position for Nuts About Sketches and found out I got in!! I am so pleased, the sketches takes me out of my comfort zone and makes me think and try something new! I am so used to doing sketches, which I love doing but these are different!

This is the first year that I have chosen a word to live by for the year but 2011 was pretty non-active for me and I really have to push myself to get anything done and needless to say any exercise or physical activity comes from cleaning the house, grocery shopping, errands...etc
This year I want to be active just because not because I have to (ie...buy groceries, run errands)..
So, I bought me an Ipod and I have some pretty inspiring tunes already loaded on there and I am going to want in my neighborhood for starters just to feel better and maybe I want have to push myself eveytime I have something to do if I am not so sedentary all of the time:)Wish me luck because I will definitely need it;)

Inspired...

This is exactly what I did yesterday. We (our scrapping group) had a scrapping retreat at a local baptist conference center yesterday for 14+ hours. I had the best time unwinding from the stress of every day life..I got to meet new friends and visit with old friends that I don't get to see alot..It was really nice:) I also missed some of our group that could not make it this time:(
I had decided to only work on my personal scrapping projects not any of my Etsy, Ebay or Artfire projects and i feel so renewed and ready to not only finish my scrapping projects but get to work on some new ideas I have floating around in my head for my Artfire shop which is new to me but pretty exciting I will put a link up on my blog for that shop so that you can check it out:)
I also go inspired because we got alot of new scrappy goodies for just coming but alot of us brought out stack papers and shared the extras so I have new pattern paper to play with:) Okay now I have chatted enough about my life. I hope that everyone has a GREAT Sunday (what is left of it)!!

Road Trip Pics

We took a little road trip Friday Veterans Day. We saw so many beautiful leaves changing in Middle Georgia we even stopped at Hamburg State Park to check it out for a future camping trip and gave Cole some time to cast a few lines but it was so cold and windy that didn't last very long but he is surely ready to camp and fish there in the spring:)

It's almost here.... November tops my list of favorite months for a reason other than the Thanksgiving holiday – November is the birthday month of my son Cole who is soon to be a teenager on November 4th! I identify with this month in so many ways: fall is my favorite season, and I have a serious obsession with fall foods like homemade pumpkin muffins, caramel corn, soups, roasted oysters(not me but the boys love them, comfort foods...yummy!

I wanted to share some pics from our weekend at the lake and we also took a ride down a back Georgia road and found an old barn and silo and I had to snap a few pics on Cole in front of them..He didn't want to take his sunglasses off and I didn't push the issue because i had forgot my Rebel and only had my little digi camera(hence the quality)...

It's Raining Day 2...

But, We need it so badly here in the south so I am not complaining..We have a tropical system that is hovering over our area now for 2 days and is supposed to clear out by tomorrow...We had to cancel our camping trip plans and put it off for a few days due to the weather but I am sure we will be out of here by Thursday so I have got to get the boy out of bed and get him started on his school work and extra work for Thursday and Friday he will miss at the end of the week(camping) I love the versatility of Homeschooling..Well, I hope you are having a great week..

And Happy October....It is 62° here today and it is already almost 12:00 noon so I am definitely enjoying the beginning of FALL...I love fall because of all of the photo op's, festivals, leaves changing cooler temps(of course), and just the feeling in the air..I hope you have an awesome Sunday! I am organizing my pattern paper and cardstock today because I really don't know what I have and where it is so I am organizing by theme/brand with the pattern paper and by color with the cardstock...I will be busy for a L-O-N-G while:)

Cole's 10 Lb. Bass

Cole caught his largest catch yet a 10 Lb. Bass ( the first picture) at a local pond and we are having it mounted to go on his wall..He was one happy boy when he reeled this one in:) The second picture is of the first bass he caught at that same pound the day before it weighed 3 Lbs.

I have been in a creative "Funk" all summer long and I am not sure how to get out of it..I love to scrapbook and do mostly anything creative with my hands,play with paper...I just don't have the "want to" to jump in and play with my loot...I have bought new paper and embellies, cleaned my scrap room and just can't get it together...so, if you have any suggestions I am open to anything..I think that my problem is life is so busy and then so much stress worrying about our future has really taken a toll on my creativity but things seen to be getting better so I need to get my act together and enjoy what used to be so much fun for me..OK...enough complaining...
I am open to suggestions or if you can relate..I am listening!

Home Schooling

We are 2 weeks into this year home schooling my son Cole for his 7th grade and all is going well. We had a few bumps in the road in the beginning but we were adjusting to new curriculum and things are going smoothly now:) It is still hard to believe that the summer is almost over for most kids around our area..We are still having 90 degrees still on most days here, I hope that fall is just around the corner for us but I think that is wishful thinking on my part...Probably another month of this horrible heat wave:( Well, I am so ready to get my scrap on and play with my paper and embellies but it seems like when I do have the time I just don't have the mojo flowing...So I am hoping the cooler weather will bring back my creative mojo;)

I have been MIA for a bit now....So much going on with me and my family...but now things seem to be leveling out for our family...Thanks to God!
I am getting ready for Cole's 7th grade home school year, we spent 8 hours this week testing for placement which really is no fun but necessary for us to start out fresh in the 7th grade since he was only home schooled 1/2 of the year in 6th grade and the other 1/2 of year in our public school...Well, now we are on the right track with curriculum and placement.

Guess what my Scrap Table looks like??? A HOT mess...I miss playing with my scrappy stuff and plan on getting my mess cleaned up tonight and play with some challenges that I have printed off and need to get done by the end of the month:)
I hope that you are having a fun and fabulous summer as ours is almost over almost time to hit the books again..We have one camping trip planned before school starts back so that will be our last hurrah....

New layouts to share...

I am back from my scrapbook weekend with the girls and I only have 2 completed pages to share. I have other pages and a mini album I worked on but haven't completed just yet because I didn't have all of my scrappin supplies with me so more is coming:)We had the best time and I admittedly didn't get alot of pages done but had the best time....What happens in a cabin stays in a cabin...hehehehe:)

My First Scrapbook Retreat

Our scrappin group decided to plan a little scrapbook retreat and there is a cute state park about an hour from us that has new cabins, a lake, a mill/waterfall but that's about it but it will be perfect for us.We have 8 girls going this time and it's for Fri/Sat night starting next Fri. 6/10/2011..So that's the reason for my little counter..I have never been on a scrappin retreat and I am so looking forward to it..

Smash Book?

Okay, I heard about Smash Books from a friend on Facebook and now they are every where and I have to admit when I first saw them I thought that the concept was like old school and not my type of scrapbooking...But, After looking at all of the cool books that people have done I was thinking this would be a GREAT little book to do for the 2011/2012 school year for my soon to be 13 year old son (omg-almost a teenager) since we homeschool and don't have a year book this would be great to add little notes, pictures, field trip memorabilia, just anything and if it turns out well we can do one for every year as a little yearbook for him..It is very interesting and I have linked a video below for you to watch so that you get the concept and some other info from the website and also a link to the blog..So check it out and let me know what you think:)

And summer is closer than ever....Cole has finished school for the 6th grade..WooooHoooo.....We are taking time off for summer vacation and we will start back when our district does I am really not sure when that is I will have to look it up:) I have been working on my scrap space and I finally have it some what organized and purged so today I am gonna play with some paper...I am working on a Memories Mini for my Ebay shop. Hopefully I will get it up this week....If I don't decide to keep it..I LOVE it..I will share soon!!

National Scrapbook Day-The Pink Stamper

Challenge #6--Incorporate a TAG into your project!
I made a card using the DCWV Songbird stack and used a tag from that collection:)

Challenge #5- Any 3-D item OR if that is too much of a challenge then add a 3-D item on your scrapbook page or card! I made a Easle Card for my 3-D challenge I used Pink Paislee Cupid Collection paper (my scraps) and prima flowers/bling, seam binding,

Challenge #4: Make something with a Mother's Day Theme!
I made a Mother's Day card for my Mom who loves butterflies. I used the Melody Ross Artsy Urban paper stack, Stickles, Thickers...

Challenge #3--Make a card, scrapbook page, or 3-D item with a breast cancer theme. You can use a ribbon, make it pink, whatever you'd like. I have made a simple card using the word "hope" from the Cricut Home Decor cart and I also added a pink ribbon made with seam binding and I also made a flower with seam binding..Finished it off with some prima bling.

Challenge #2 Use Kraft Cardstock on any project. I made this card using the Cricut cart Teardrop to cut the "Hello Friend" and I used craft cardstock and I also distressed it with Tim Holtz Distress Ink peeled paint and I also used some prima flowers and bling:)

Challenge #1 Anything Cupcake I used the Cricut cart-Doodle Charms and cut the cupcake 3 inches and jazzed it up with some stickles and I used a old DCWV stack for the paper -the spring stack from a few years back:) TFL:)

I can't hardly believe that May is already here and that summer is among us.We are about to be finished with our homeschool year (we only did 1 semester starting Jan.1, 2011) but I am very pleased with our progress and excited to start next year out as a new adventure and not starting at the half year point.

I have been a VERY BAD blogger lately because we had our spring break(went camping & hubby on vacation),my new stores Ebay/Etsy have been keeping me busy which is awesome and keeping all the homeschooling records up to date leaves me little me time but no complaining here:)Okay now on to some scrappy stuff......

If you have ever used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist or Glimmer Glam you know it becomes one of those "gotta have on hand" products. It adds so much depth from all the colors you can layer on, or just the right amount of that much needed sparkle our projects are always begging for! The yucky pollen is falling out of the many pine trees that we have on our property and wreaking havoc on my sinuses..I love this time of year when all is new again in the flowers department but my allergies are off the chain:( We are having daily pollen storms in our back yard and you can't see anything threw the pollen..I hope that it is all gone soon and that spring will come beautifully without the yellow stuff:)

It's A Beautiful Day

It is such a beautiful day here in the south it's 10am and 60 degrees outside and sunny. All of Cole's home school work is done and we are going to take Daisy to the park to walk(below are the pics from when you took her last week) she loves it.It is so hard to walk her in our neighborhood because there are so many dogs that she wants to smell them and interact with them and they are not so friendly so it's not a peaceful walk but we found this little park about 15 miles from our house that has a little dog walking area and she/Cole loves it and Mom can use the walk and fresh air too.Spring is in the air here and it is evident the pollen is falling, the grass is peaking out and leaves are turning green. I love this times of year all of the growth and new life:)

Busy Saturday

Cole wants to go see the Yogi Bear movie in 3D so we are going to see that at 1:30 and lunch before that where oh where I don't know somewhere not so expensive because he is taking a friend and that means 2 of everything (you know the "rent a friend program" heheh j/k)and of course he wants to go to his favorite dessert joint a new frozen yogurt place that has opened up near us named Lovin' Spoons from what I understand it is a chain FroYo place that has started it's franchise in Savannah Georgia and it is yummy. My boy loves it and it bordering on addiction.... We had a great week with Cole's classes and he deserves a treat:)Check out the link above in purple if you are local it is really good and low-fat/sugar:)

I do know one thing the weather is going to be another yucky day Rain and High of only 53 degrees so I am glad it will be an inside day for us:)

Home Schooling....Have I lost my mind??

Now that I have had time to let it sink into my brain I think the answer is "no" I am not crazy....Just concerned about my boy:)

After much research and soul searching I have decided to home school my son. There is no "one" particular reason that stands out in my mind but a collection of reasons for several years now I could write a list of them but I will spare you the boredom what matters most is that it is a decision that myself/hubby didn't take lightly and it has been a positive experience for me so far.It has only been 2 weeks but a good start for us:) We are doing the ABecka Academy curriculum to finish out this year and I am not sure what we will do for 7th grade I am researching all possibilities right now so that:)

We are leaving tomorrow to go to Tn. to play in the snow we are taking our first "Field Trip" to study frozen precipitaion..ummm..yeah that's what we will study:)
This is a pic taken last week in the Great Smoky Mountains:) I hope I can get some good pics while we are up there:)

I hope that everyone has a Safe and Happy New Year celebration with what ever you decide to do.We are doing a Low country Boil and have a fire in the fire pit on my patio and even maybe some adult beverages(who Knows).I just hope that the weather is decent so that we can have a good time ringing in the new year. We are just having a small celebration this year and I think Cole has invited a few of this friends over to eat and watch fireworks...We have even cut down on the amount of fireworks we bought this year but I am sure it will be just as enjoyable:)
I am so looking forward to 2011 because I have high hopes for this year. 2010 was a really rough year for my family financially and emotionally but with God's help we were able to make it through so I am praying for a easier year to endure for 2011..I am so lucky to have what I do have and shouldn't complain but as the years go by I don't remember a harder year than 2010 in a very long time:)
I know that for alot of my friends and family are in the same situation with the economy so I am praying that everyone has a Prosperous New Year!!!

Paper Roses

I made this beautiful rose with just the flower die cuts you see in the pics below and my hot glue gun.I checked out several tutorials online and came up with this version to adapt it to the die cut that my Slice would cut without me having to buy a new punch or cart for my Cricut..They are so much fun to make and easy..
I will post a picture tutorial when I make the next batch of them I just made several last night out of vintage book print I got from the Goodwill the possibilities are endless:)Thanks for looking!!

Christmas is almost here and school is out for the boy and I am so happy for that..sleeping In, not having to fix school lunch, no time schedule for a few weeks...Yay!!!!!!

I have got all of my Christmas shopping done I just have to brave the grocery store to get some food for Christmas dinner I have got to decide what we are having and make a list..and baking I will be baking cookies with Cole Wednesday 12/22 we have decided not to do the same traditional sweets this year we are doing Chocolate Chip Cookies because Cole made them in Home Ec. this month and he wants to make them and I have decided to make a Red Velvet Cake for Christmas Dinner Dessert:)

Christmas is nearly approaching and I have Cole's presents taken care of but that's all I have a short little list to finish because we really have a small family so it's not that bad I just haven't been in the shopping mood this season but I will have to get to it really soon before it's to late:)I just don't know what to buy my Mom, my 20 year old Niece, my Hubby it seems that these days everybody has everything they want and it is so much harder to pick something that they would like..Oh, and my Christmas cards are not ready either today is Dec 11th and I should have already mailed them..ugh...I have received several cards already and I am so slack but that to is on the list for this weekend and mail then out Monday and say a little prayer that they get to everybody before Christmas..Well, Thanks for listening to my ranting in a scrooge like way I am cleaning today (really deep cleaning) and hopefully I will be able to get creative a little later today and tomorrow because it looks like the rain in set in for both days.

Okay I know I have been a really slack blogger and even slacker scrapper lately but I am so happy to report that I have found my MoJo again and it has been so long since I have scrapbooked and enjoyed it without struggling but, Friday night I started a Christmas mini chipboard album and I finished it last night(sat.) and last week I also did a set of Christmas cards for my Etsy store but haven't listed them yet. I had so much fun playing with glimmer mist and trying to make some of the paper flowers to coordinate with my mini album:)Okay here are some pics:)TFL..

Blog remodel...

I have been MIA for so long I wanted to come on and update...Okay, The diet has been hard but well worth the effort although this weekend I have sort of blew it I have lost 20 pounds and feeling much better and still have a long way to go I am still on track..
Now for the creative stuff, I am working on a wedding album for my cousin that in getting married in November and I know it will be here before I know it so I have got to get it in gear and I will post pics soon.
And i just remodeled my blog thanks to Deb Evans she had a new template and I loved it and it was free so I went over to the site she used and grabbed a new template and thought it turned out well..
Inspiration is coming from everywhere and I really need it:)

I have been anything but under control lately...I have one very positive thing to be happy about I have a child that likes middle school and I was so worried about that all summer long but I can finally take a breather about that...woooohooo...

Now, On to the out of control stuff...my weight...I am a stress eater and I have had mounds of stress lately my hubby was unemployed for 3 months(he and my brother separated from the company partnership because of finances/the economy) and we have managed to deplete almost all of our savings and now the 401k is dwindling down he has found a job now that pays very good and has several other offers in the works so that is finally looking up. (Thanks God all of the prayers worked) Now that life is kinda leveling out I have decided to make myself more accountable for my health I take care of Hubby,wonderful Son, Mom and somehow forget about myself so it's my time to feel better about myself....Starting tomorrow(Monday) I am going to start walking a mile at least 3 times a week and cut out all or most of my guilty pleasures(chocolate/bread...) and hopefully find fruit and veggies I like to much on just as much(long shot huh???)Okay so wish me luck on turning over a new leaf for me I just wanna feel comfortable in my skin It has been so long....I want to feel like scrapbooking again I have lost all of my mojo I guess the stress sucked up up:)

Scrap Within Reach

Cole starts middle school tomorrow it is really hard to believe my boy is almost 12 yrs old..I am hoping to get some scrappin time in once things settle down here...I am looking for a p/t job to get me out of the house I feel like it is time to get back into the working world so that I can meet new people and socialize more I feel like I have become to much of a home body:( It should be interesting looking for employment to work around my schedule with Cole and school but it just might happen:)

Yikes. I can't believe I'm pushing almost a month with no blog entry. I heartily apologize! I really, really love blogging. Oddly, though, I haven't been up for blogging recently. I'm not sure why, but I'll try to return to my normal groove.For those wondering what's going on with me, I'm rapidly nearing a lot of big changes in my life, My only child will be going into middle school in a week (sniff,sniff) he will soon be 12 years old and hubby and I always said that when the boy went to middle school I would go back to work to bring more income into the house.I have been a SAHM for nearing 12 years so what am I to do with myself what kind of job would I even find after being out of the loop for so long??Big question huh??Well, When i figure it out I will let ya know...Well I am going to call it a night I hope that you have a fabulous weekend I have Big plans cleaning, purging and all of that fun stuff:)Cya Soon!!!

My Boy Got Contacts Today.....

I took Cole to get his contacts today and the Dr. said he was a natural at putting them in I am so proud of him I really didn't know how it would go but it went great...now lets see how long it will last..I hope once he See's how much better he can see he will be enthusiastic about putting them in every morning and not get all lazy and go back to glasses..he is male after all..j/k

My mojo that is...I have lost it and can't seem to find it... I walk past my scraproom with all of my yummy new scrapbooking supplies and think "When am I going to get my mojo back"?? I guess I am going to have to challenge myself or something.I love doing challenges because it forces me to think it out..Are you having the same issues?????

This is the only pic I got of my Boy going to his first boy/girl dance because he didn't want me to take pics at the school when I dropped him off..This was the longest 2 hours for me but he had a great time and I have got to realize that I don't have a "Little" boy anymore:(

I found some inspiration over on the Sketch Inspiration forum this is my take on sketch #28.

It is so hard to get back into the swing of scrapping for me and I really don't know why except a massive amount of stress and worry which I am trying to rid myself of and get back into the scrappin mood..Thanks for peeking...It aint all that but it is a start for me back in the right direction.

Random.....Farm(ish) Stuff...

My Mom..(She felt very comfy beside this old tractor because she worked on one like it in her younger days)

Okay...I know your thinking what is up the the tractors...We were at the Strawberry Festival a few weeks back and they had a car/farm equipment show and I though what a great photo-op..You know pictures for some different scrapbook pages and not to mention these machines are a part of history..I know I am thinking like a scrapbooker or just was having a blonde moment..Anywho..I love the pictures and now I have to find some farm(ish) paper and embellies to do them justice...Oh Yeah...Did i mention it is summer here?? No more school for a while and very warm temps mostly high 80's to 90's..Fun!!Fun!!

Bittersweet Ending..New Beginnings..Sniff..Sniff....

Only one more day of elementary school for my boy and it is bittersweet...I was sitting in line to pick him up today and was on the phone w/my bff and she reminded me that today was the last time I would be in the line to pick up Cole at Elem. school and it hit me HARD because I haven't thought about it until she mentioned it...I cryed my eyes out..I felt so weird...I am so proud of my child and know that he will continue to prosper and grow but I feel like I am losing my little boy to hormones and did I mention girls already calling on the cell phone...I will just have to get over myself...I will get to spend the day w/Cole at school tomorrow with camera in hand it is water day and they have a slide show of all the 5th graders throughout the years they are in the school..I will need tissue....

So what did you do Saturday on the industries biggest holiday??? I would love to report that I went to an all day fabulous NSD crop but, I didn't even get to scrapbook at all I took Cole shoe/summer cloths shopping he desperately needed new Nike's and uniform shorts for the last 10 days of school but, I did get several pages done Friday night playing over at Citrus Tree Studio they have alot of challenges going on at the forum and the ladies over there are super sweet so today I hope to get some more challenges done after I finish cleaning and laundry..

We got Cole's pool cleaned out and filled yesterday so maybe by the time school's out the water will be warmed up enough for him to get in it the temp was 90 degrees here yesterday and gave the yard some TLC spring has sprung here in the south...

Well, I am not one to wish my days away but I am so looking forward to the end of this school year.Not because my only child will be in middle school in the fall but, because this has been one stressful year so far with all of the stress of the CRCT's (Georgia Standardized Testing) at Cole's school (they finished up last Friday and we are awaiting the results)and the fact that he only has 1 day remaining to miss and stay legal at school. He has had some major problems with migraine headaches this year and the other crud's that go around a school..Cole is an honor roll student but when you put that much stress on 11 year old kids that if they don't pass this test they will be retained in the 5Th grade and will not be promoted it really makes it harder on their performance worrying about the test...Any who, I am probably worrying for nothing but what if????? I have prayed about it every day and know we are in good hands I just have got to let the worry go:)now, I am off to finish dinner and help Cole work on a project for school..Fun..Fun..

I was looking for inspiration last week blog hopping around and I came across a blog with the cutest cards and layouts and the blog owner was having a contest to see if she could get to 300 Followers and when she did get to 300 followers she would draw a name to win a box of scrappy goodies...Well, of course I became a follower because I knew I would get some inspiration from Danielle's designs(which i desperately needed since my mojo left me all alone) and hey what the heck I could be lucky enough to win some goodies...right...Well,unexpectly I did win but with volunteering at Cole's school last week it took me a few days to check back on my blog list and my sweet friend Deb e-mailed me and told me I had won..Thanks deb!!!! Making Memories has come up with a great new gadget for the Slice.

It is a glass mat/embossing mat on either side and a magnetic collar to hold the Slice machine down on the mat so that you can use it hands free...genius I say...or just minds at work trying to be competitive either way I think it would make using my Slice easier.I have to check out the prices before I make up my mind..any way...great idea!
